Q1 - What is the E-Community Concept?

The E-Community Concept is an online community platform provided FREE of charge to small communities throughout Scotland in order to facilitate the exchange of local information and raise money for local good causes. Too many people think technology and the internet is destroying good old community spirit. We disagree and think it can help. We hope to receive sponsorship from local businesses and then donate a large amount of that revenue back to local good causes within that local community.

Q2 - Who benefits from these Community Websites?

Everybody within the community benefits from the platform. The local people benefit directly from the website as they can use all the website facilities for FREE. Local businesses will gain support from the community for sponsoring the website and also by indirectly donating money back into the community they are based. Local charities and other not-for-profit organisations benefit by receiving money from the website to help keep them going. If the businesses sponsor the website and in doing so are donating money back into the community, the community will in turn support the businesses.

Q3 - What makes an E-Community website different from any other community website?

An E-Community Website is very different from other community websites because our websites really are managed and maintained by the community. There isn't a single webmaster who updates the website every few days, our websites have been developed so everybody within the community is the webmaster and can contribute to the content of the website anytime and with no delay.

Q4 - How do I submit an item to the website?

If you want to contribute to your community website, all you have to do is register and become a member. To register as a member just click on the 'Register' button on the menu above and follow the instructions. Make sure you fill in all the boxes and use a valid email address. Once you have registered we will send your password to your registered email address. Once you have logged in with your username and password you will be able to contribute to the website as often as you like. And its FREE!!

Q5 - Who polices the content?

We track all the content that is posted to the websites but we do not want to play god with your community website. We have created a reporting facility that allows members to let us know if there is any inappropriate content. We will always have a birdseye view and can remove items at anytime but we want to encourage the community to police to the website.

Q6 - I have a business. Is the Business Directory FREE?

Yes, the directories are FREE but there are a few ways of promoting your business. First you must become a member of the community website. Please follow Q4 above. Once you are a member and you have logged into the website, you can submit your business to the 'Business Directory' by clicking on the 'Businesses' section on the menu and then clicking on 'Submit Business'. Make sure you follow the instructions and fill out all the boxes. Once your business is displayed on the FREE directory, you can access your account and decide whether you want to advertise on the website. Remember a large portion of our revenue is donated back to local good causes within your town/village. Click on 'Advertise' for more information.

Q7 - I have a business and want to advertise. What should I do?

First of all, follow the steps in Q6. Once you have done this, you can log into your account and click on 'My Account' at the top of the screen. Once in your account, on 'My Organisations', then click on 'Advertising'. This will give you the option to upload all the images for your advertising campaign. Once you have all your images in place, contact us at info@smartcommunity.co.uk and we will discuss which type of advertising campaign suits your requirement.

Q8 - What is 'My Account'?

This section is for members to view/update their information. This is where you would change your email address or your password. Business owners can update their directory here. Your account can be accessed by logging into the website and then selecting 'My Account' which is located right at the top of the page.

Q9 - How do I change my password?

You can change your password by accessing your account and clicking on 'Profile' - See Q7 for accessing your account.
